A HYROX-Specialist Gym for Stockport

Wide view of the empty Atlas Training Club gym floor

Stockport has plenty of places to train: leisure centres, CrossFit boxes, strength and performance gyms. Atlas Training Club is something more specific. It's a gym built around HYROX, from the 16m sled track to the way every class is programmed. If HYROX is your goal, or you'd love it to be, this is a training floor designed for exactly that, a straight run down the A6 from the town centre.

From Stockport, down the A6

Leave the town centre on Wellington Road South (A6) and follow it through Heaviley and Great Moor as it becomes Buxton Road, then London Road, into Hazel Grove. At the junction, take the A523 Macclesfield Road south, then continue on London Road North and London Road South (B5092) through Poynton to Adlington Business Park. It's about 6.5 miles, roughly 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. The A6 is busy at rush hour, so treat this as approximate. Parking at Atlas is free.

Why a HYROX specialist rather than a general gym

General gyms and CrossFit boxes are great at what they do. A HYROX race asks for something particular: 8km of running broken up by eight fixed stations, always in the same order. At Atlas, that race shapes the whole gym:

  • A 16m sled track with push and pull lanes, so the stations that hurt most on race day get trained properly every week
  • HYROX race-day equipment and wall ball targets
  • HYROX Skills & Performance sessions, built around station technique, transitions and pacing
  • Atlas Run, with coach-led intervals and race-specific running to sit between the stations
  • Race simulations in a competition layout. The next HYROX Sim is on Sunday 15 November 2026: Half Sim £15 solo / £25 doubles, Full Sim £30 solo / £50 doubles.

Strength still matters, so there's a full strength zone with Olympic lifting platforms, racks and free weights. But it's all pointed at one goal.

Around Stockport: Hazel Grove, Bramhall and Marple

Atlas works for the whole south and east of the borough. Hazel Grove is on the A6 route itself, about 10 minutes away. Bramhall is around 10 minutes via Woodford and the Poynton Relief Road. Marple is around 15–20 minutes down Windlehurst Road to the A6 and the A555 (all approximate). For running between sessions, Woodbank parkrun and Marple parkrun are on the doorstep, and the Middlewood Way runs south from Marple towards Higher Poynton.

See our Hazel Grove and Bramhall pages for local routes.

Who travels from Stockport

People who've tried HYROX once and want to get serious. CrossFitters adding a race to their calendar. Runners who keep fading at the sled push. Friends signing up for Doubles. And complete beginners, because every class is scaled and no experience is needed.
